The local area
Burnley offers plenty for you to enjoy, from peaceful strolls through the landscaped gardens of Towneley Hall to discovering local heritage at the Queen Street Mill Textile Museum. Gentle outdoor excursions—like taking in sweeping views at the Singing Ringing Tree or relaxing by the boating lake in Thompson Park—provide scenic, low‑key enjoyment. To unwind, many appreciate the calming treatments at the Woodland Spa or a tranquil canal boat trip along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
The Home
St. Stephen Street has a very welcoming atmosphere that makes our residents and their visitors feel right at home, with a well maintained garden complete with seating areas perfect for relaxing in the great outdoors on a sunny day.
Our residents often spend time together in our spacious communal conservatory after meals, chatting or playing dominos and other games – the Abbeyfield lifestyle allows our residents to choose to have company when they want it.
There is also free Wi-fi available in communal areas.
The Rooms
There is also one 2-bedroom apartment, and ten self-contained apartments across two floors, with lift access to take residents to the first floor. These comfortable, private spaces are equipped with bed sitting rooms and en-suite, plus facilities for making breakfast and snacks.
Laundry
There’s a laundry room, fully equipped with washing machines, tumble dryer and ironing facilities – and we provide all the detergent you need.
Dining
Our dining room has a fresh, homely environment in which to enjoy meals freshly prepared by our cook. The meals themselves are home cooking at its best. Of course, our menu can be adapted to account for our residents’ likes and dislikes, as well as any dietary intolerances.
We offer a big meal at lunchtime, with a lighter meal on offer at teatime. We find this suits our residents and leaves them with very little meal preparation to do for themselves. We provide milk, butter, bread and cereal to enable our residents to make breakfast and between meals residents can make snacks for themselves in their apartments.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in communal areas. However, a designated smoking area is available outside.
