Volunteer Positions at Abbeyfield

A strong ethos

Abbeyfield Societies have had a strong ethos of providing support services in a range of housing requirements of those needing care aged 55 and over, on the goodwill of dedicated volunteers. There are more than 80 volunteers who support and compliment the work of the Carers and Management Team.

A Volunteer Manager works alongside this group of volunteers who cover such tasks as:

• Running the coffee bar
• Reception duties
• Assisting residents at meal times
• Assisting with residents’ shopping
• Befriending residents
• Organising social activities and entertainment
• Helping in the Residential & Day Care Unit
• Running the Library Service
• Weekly Craft Group
